I. Introduction
This guide's been a long time coming: I've written guides on plot, character, setting, but none on the actual act of writing itself. My main tip is, "Write as if you're saying it, punctuate wherever you stop, and make sure readers know what you're writing." Though, this is something that could use a ton of examples, so here it is: a guide to the actual act of writing for both fiction and n
For those who are upset about CORE, you're right. We should have made a more formal announcement when we released to express the new CORE brand and what it means to us and you, and if nothing else in the interest of transparency. More information about CORE to follow this week. But even more importantly, you will see the release of many new Timeline elements that will give you much greater transparency into DeviantArt's direction as a whole.

Due to the nature of DeviantArt it is quite easy to perceive that there's "a lot of people" who are upset with any given thing, enough so that you could even believe that "everyone" believes the same thing.
I felt that perhaps the community would like me to explain how DeviantArt views these types of things.
First of all, DeviantArt, Inc. is extremely deliberate. We don't do anything accidentally. Everything that hits the community is the result of a team collaboration that usually take weeks or months to complete. And so when we make mistakes they are felt by a group here or by our whole team.
Things you should know:

Tips on How To Get Commissions
I wrote a new Journal on Tips on How to Get Commissions with waaay more info! Check it out!
When offering commissions, it can be very hard to get yourself noticed, what with the hundreds of thousands of other artists out there. People gripe about how pageviews aren’t important, but they are a helpful tool for you to see what kind of traffic flow you’re attracting. The more views you get, the more of a chance there is that one of those viewers is interested in commissioning you.
Gigonomics is a term I heard about a few months ago at an FLBA conference. After Googling it, many people seem to be using it in a slightly different way,

His two anthologies and how to participate in
A new set of notifications have been added to the Message Center to bring more exposure to artists offering Commissions!
Whenever an artist lists a Commission through the Commissions Widget, a notification message will be sent to that artist's watchers, informing them that a new Commission is available. These messages, grouped into a new Activity section of the Message Center, can be enabled or disabled from the deviantWATCH modal on a deviant's Profile and the Manage Friends page.

Worldbuilding: Environments and Social Structures
Are you ready to build a world? Good!

The Magic Gateway, by jerry8448. This is what we want to do with worldbuilding.
Worldbuilding is a complex process, because it is essentially creating the base of a different reality from our own. An author must pull together all the elements of a 'world', and capture that in text. This applies in any genre of writing. Even non-fiction has aspects of worldbuilding because it has setting and world details the same as fiction. In any genre, if the world is flat, the story will be flat and one of the best ways to build a fictional world is to know about one's own. Stories and readers bot
